Review by Loraine Oliver - 5 Wonderful Stars

Beautiful Oblivion is the first book of the Maddox Brothers, and is written after we meet Abby and Travis Maddox in Beautiful Disaster, Walking Disaster and Beautiful Wedding. This book is about Trenton Maddox, and I have to say that sometimes after reading a series about a member of a family, the next spin off books are good but never live up to the original series-NOT in this case! There are five Maddox brothers and we met them all briefly in the first books with Travis, but now we read about Trenton and he is just as appealing in his own way as Travis is. Trenton was also very young when their mom died, and he has a rough time growing up, and after a terrible thing happens to him, he leaves school(college) and starts working at a tattoo shop, and lives with his dad to help with the bills. Trenton is every bit as tough as Travis, but he is very different, inside he is a gentle person, which can be seen by his actions. For instance he looks out for the little girl who lives next door to him, she is only 5, but he takes her around all the time, takes her to play pinball and eat out and just treats Olive like a little sister.

Cami is a girl that grew up in the same town as the Maddox brothers and just so happens to be in Trent's grade and as a little boy he loves her from afar, and she has no idea. Cami has a boyfriend, but as time goes by and she starts spending a lot of time with Trent, she starts questioning if she is with the right person and then she also has a secret that can destroy everything. She has never paid Trent too much attention as Trent like Travis was "the king of Eastern State University, dating co-eds before he even graduated high school." He never really pays any attention to Cami until he sees her one night at the Red Door bar where she works and the chase is on. Cami likes spending time with Trent and she feels since she has four rowdy brothers herself she won't have a hard time being friends, but she is so wrong.
A paragraph from the book sums it all up: “When a Maddox boy falls in love, he loves forever.” And Trent loves Cami and as they get along with their relationship that Cami tries to deny but can't, Trent tells her: “But I am so f***ing in love with you Cami, I have been since we were kids. The first time I saw you on the playground, I knew what beauty was. The first time you ignored me was my first broken heart.” “You terrified me.” and Trent is afraid just like all the brothers are, because they loved their mom so much and that was the first woman they all loved. Also he says: “We’ve already lost the first woman we ever loved. The thought of going through that again scares the s*** out of us.” As you read this book you see it is true -Trent loves her with an intensity that so many people never know. Cami falls in love with Trent and she has to do something to make it right and quit seeing her boyfriend to truly commit to Trent.

This book was beautifully written, as Jamie McGuire has done with all her books, she raises the bar with each new book she writes, and I can't wait for her next book. Through the pages of all of her books you can watch true love as it is meant to be unfold. The plot is good and this book keeps you guessing to the end and you have to read it to see what happens, if Trent and Cami can get together and make it work or not.

I gave this book 5 stars and am so happy that I read it, as I loved her first books and this book was awesome: this book did not disappoint!
