YOU by Author Caroline Kepnes is becoming a TV show!

YOU by Caroline Kepnes is a creepy, disturbing, seriously addicting book. Its vivid descriptions, fully realized characters, and Brooklyn bookstore setting could easily transition off the pages and onto the screen.

The producers at Showtime seem to agree, as a couple of months ago, they announced that they will be turning Kepnes’ thriller into a TV show!

With this seriously exciting news, we thought we’d figure out a dream cast for the production:

JOE: A tough role, for sure. He has to be over-the-top, skin-crawlingly creepy, but also charming and endearing. There’s only one man for the job, and that’s Jake Gyllenhaal. With his all-American good looks, it’s easy to see how Beck could fall for him. But after starring as creepy cameraman Louis Bloom in last year’s Nightcrawler, he’s obviously got the spine-chilling part nailed down too. Equal parts sexy and sinister, we think Gyllenhaal could make a very convincing Joe.

Dream Cast 1

BECK: Joe describes Beck as a fresh-faced, Natalie Portman-lookalike: a quintessential nice girl. We think Friday Night Lights alum Minka Kelly, who played sweet Lyla Garrity on the show, could play Beck perfectly.

Dream Cast 2

PEACH: Beck’s best friend and party girl with Salinger genes, Krysten Ritterfrom Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt 23 has that cool vibe that epitomizes Peach.

Dream Cast 3

BENJI: Ah, Benji: Beck’s cheating, lying, rich-kid boyfriend, with whom she is completely obsessed; his full name is Benjamin “Benji” Baird Keyes III, after all. We think Milo Ventimiglia from Gilmore Girls and Heroes could pull off the privileged Benji.

Dream Cast 4

KAREN: Joe’s girlfriend in the second half of the novel, Karen is a fun, blonde nurse. Broadway darling Megan Hilty, and star of FOX’s short-lived Smash, could carry this role off without a hitch.

YOU by Caroline Kepnes

“[A] beautifully crafted thriller that will give you chills.” (People magazine)

From debut author Caroline Kepnes comes You, one of Suspense Magazine’s Best Books of 2014, and a brilliant and terrifying novel for the social media age.

YOU Cover

When a beautiful, aspiring writer strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe Goldberg works, he does what anyone would do: he Googles the name on her credit card.

There is only one Guinevere Beck in New York City. She has a public Facebook account and Tweets incessantly, telling Joe everything he needs to know: she is simply Beck to her friends, she went to Brown University, she lives on Bank Street, and she’ll be at a bar in Brooklyn tonight—the perfect place for a “chance” meeting.

As Joe invisibly and obsessively takes control of Beck’s life, he orchestrates a series of events to ensure Beck finds herself in his waiting arms. Moving from stalker to boyfriend, Joe transforms himself into Beck’s perfect man, all while quietly removing the obstacles that stand in their way—even if it means murder.

A terrifying exploration of how vulnerable we all are to stalking and manipulation, debut author Caroline Kepnes delivers a razor-sharp novel for our hyper-connected digital age. You is a compulsively readable page-turner that’s being compared to Gone Girl, American Psycho, and Stephen King’s Misery.
