My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Review by Wicked Women Reviewer Loraine Oliver

Hearts On Fire by Ashli Rose is a first novel, and the author is off to a good start! This book is a contemporary romance and its a novel about having a second chance at love. The book is well written, and the characters are good, and the book moves along at a pretty steady clip. The only thing I did not really like about it was that it seemed to be rushed, in other words, it could have been a little bit longer and I think that would have made a big difference.

Ava Kingston left her home five years ago and moved to Chicago to get away from her boyfriend; something happened and instead of thinking it through, she fled. Ava has a good job and has learned to have a good life where she now lives, has her own place and her little sister lives with her. Ava just lives in the now and does not think about the past. She has a great job, and good friends.

Gavin Sawyer is a firefighter for a city just outside of Chicago. He has a great job, a lot of friends, and many women who would be more than willing to be with him. The problem is that he loves Ava. He can't understand why she ran away all those years ago. So he lives in the shadows, seeing her at a distance, but not bothering her, hoping someday for a second chance.

One day while at a bookstore, Ava sees a calendar called Hunks in Uniform! All those years ago she had told Gavin to send in his picture. Unknown to Ava and her sister, Gavin is also in the bookstore and watches Ava's reaction! To top this off, her boss sends her to handle a ceremony they are having for the Hunks in Uniforms and she sees Gavin there! So this is the turning point will this chance encounter with Gavin change her mind about him, and will she give him a second chance?

Further complications arise, and just when it looks hopeful, things happen to cause more problems. Will Ava run again, like she always done in the past, or will she wait to hear what Gavin has to say? You will have to read the book to find out! I relly liked this book, and it had just the right amount of angst to keep it interesting! Do yourself a favor and get a copy of this book today-you will be glad you did.

I gave this book 4**** stars and look forward to reading more by this author!
