Elias (West Bend Saints, #1)Elias by Sabrina Paige

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Elias by Sabrina Paige is the first book of the West Bend Saints! This book did not disappoint! I loved it and I look forward to more of this series!

River Andrews was getting ready for the biggest day of her life, she was going to marry the man of her dreams: until she walked in 3 hours before the wedding (with a film crew behind her)to see her fiance getting a blow job from her sister! She calmly walks to her boyfriend's prized possessions room, and smashes everything with his prize Mickey Mantle baseball bat, and left it in a shambles, dropped the bat, and walked right out the door and never looked back-she hopped in her car in Beverly Hills and drove to Las Vegas. Her boyfriend is a rockstar and he is a loser on top of everything else he is.

Elias Saint happens to be in Vegas at the same time, and he does not want to be there. His friends and he are celebrating his medical discharge from the military as his leg was blown off when he was in a bombing. Elias is bitter and he feels he can do his job just fine with or without a leg, but the military retires him anyway. Now he is on his way home to West Bend, were he grew up along with 3 brothers. He is sick of the partying and goes up to his room, and then goes out looking for ice when he runs into River! The next morning she is leaving and while waiting for her car the paparazzi swarm her and he grabs her and take off with her and she has nowhere to go so she winds up going with him back to where he lives.

River rents out a whole bed and breakfast and decided to stay for a while. Elias goes to see his mom and brother and realizes that something is up with his mom but he does not know what. All he knows is that he is in a place where he does not want to be. His father, who was a mean and vicious man had died a week ago. None of his brothers or he cares, they are glad: he used to knock Elias's mother and his brothers and he around all the time, when he would come home drunk.

River on the other hands feels like her whole life has been a lie, her boyfriend is a rock star and a loser, loving sex, drugs, and rock and roll more than her- he loved hanging out and partying all the time. River came up from the trailer park, discovered at 15, and her mother is a terrible person who used to sleep around all the time. River does not even know who her father is. Her Mom has been using River to take care of her and pay for everything. Her sister is no better. Her mom continues to try to run River's life, and her movie making career. In reality she is just as vicious as they come, and only wants River to pay for everything like it is owed to her. In reality, both River and Elias have been brought up in bad places by bad people.

Elias and River are both broken but are able to see past it and they realize they bring out the good in each other. Then her life catches up to her and she has to go back and finish the movie. She goes looking for Elias and hears something and totally takes it out of context and runs home, packs and leaves. Elias is devastated when he goes to look for her and she is gone.

I can't say anything else except you need to read this book and watch how love can change people, but it can also hurt, and how important the power of forgiveness can be. I really liked this book and look forward to the next book! I gave this book 5 ***** stars.
